Always a dream to have a lakefront escape, we traveled to northern Georgia to see what that state has to offer from water, hills and homes. Taking about 8 hours each way, it soon became evident that this location was a tad too far for a a long weekend or short week escape. We stayed at the Lodge at Lake Conocee and spent time in the area exploring homes, the area and the historical town of Millridgeville. A good time and great weather, we found the dammed lakes (by Georgia Power) were somewhat muddy (not clear like the Gulf) and just about all of the properties we visited needed work and ongoing maintenance. Unfortunately local cultural or historical sites and activities are limited. Next stop northern Florida.
