Ginger and I visited Mexico Beach this week to see and capture first-hand the rath of Hurricane Michael. The Category 4 Hurricane hit the Florida Panhandle region Oct 10, 2018, with maximum sustained wind speeds of 155 mph and a minimum pressure 919 mb. The storm caused catastrophic damage from wind and storm surge, particularly in the Panama City Beach to Mexico Beach to Cape San Blas areas.
Essentially every home and business was destroyed, the area today looks like the storm hit yesterday, large (expensive) homes being rebuilt (here and there), but nothing - NOTHING being rebuilt one block and further in. The only real human activity we saw were contractors and crews operating cleanup equipment. Keep everyone in your prayers ... it will be a long time before the area comes back.
