Taking advantage of the 3 day Labor Day weekend, Mom and I 'packed our bags, tools and supplies' and headed north to New Jersey. A small time change of travel worked like a charm - leaving early morning versus mid-afternoon, allowed us to experience a much better day/night travel with arrival just after midnight (just under 20 hours of actual road time). First thing Saturday morning we had breakfast bar and from there on the fun began .... We met the condo tenant for a final walk down and the unit was in a mess and were told all would be emptied by 1:00 pm. We returned to find limited progress. Decision time - I told Ricardo we have to begin now to paint the unit since we have only two days ... and I proceeded to physically remove all bedding and articles from the master bedroom so we could begin. See photos below.
Return Home (NPR) ... but first Charleston, SC
After taking a moment to visit the Readington Post Office, we headed south to Charleston, SC. Just under 12 hours later we arrive in North Charleston and get a room for the night, have dinner and catch up on the news and email. In the morning we head out to take a walking tour of key attractions in Charleston inlcuding the Market, the waterfront, historic buildings and historic graveyards (actually saw a site where a Declaration of Independence signatory resides (Rutledge).
